Highlights for today:
Another early morning came and we all started it off by eating an elaborate breakfast prepared by the kitchen crew. After eating our breakfast, we had our quiet time with God and then everyone began starting work on the creek.
Today, instead of separating into multiple groups, we stayed as one large one and we continued our progression on the creek. Our work on the creek included removing sticks and lose rocks from the area and raking leaves. In two other areas that feed into our new creek, we added rock walls to help aesthetics and water control. We then ate lunch and returned back to the creek as a large group and then continued on the same work as before. During lunch we read the e-mails that we received from various people including one that "Shawn's Dad wrote."
Dear Shawneepooo
I miss you so much. All I've done since you left is sit in my room and look at my wall of your pictures. I look at them and think back to the good times we spent together and realize how much I miss you. I love holding the teddy bear you gave me for valentines day, every night while I sleep. I dressed it with one of you t-shirts and sprayed it with your cologne so I feel like your here with me. I can't wait to see you again. see you as soon as you get home. I'll be waiting for you with great anticipation and a great big hug and kiss.
Love DadIn addition to the other tasks on the creek, we also spread mulch around the areas that were flattened out earlier in the day. We finished all of the work that could have been done with all of the resources that were available to us. We may be adding more mulch to the other side of the creek tomorrow if they receive more mulch. After the work was over, we enjoyed our free time until dinner was ready to eat.
After another great meal prepared by the kitchen crew, the group had free time until 7:30 when we got together for our group time. All of the meals were centered around unity for today so for lunch, we all shared a giant sub and for dessert after dinner, we ate ice cream out of a 7 foot long gutter.
Mike, Shawn, and Hanan did a funny skit about an old couple getting their car filled up at a gas station while Tyler and Nate acted out a chicken being chased by a hunter in the background. After the skit we got serious and had a powerful object lesson. It was based on the scripture, John: 13, where Jesus washed the disciples feet. We went around and each person washed everyone else's feet.
