Highlights for today:
We ate breakfast this morning again at 7:00 AM and then we were given our assignments for the day. One group was to rake leaves where new grass was planted last year while another group was busy moving mattresses for housekeeping. The raking leaves moved from the side of the road where the newer grass was planted to two other houses that needed leaves to be removed. The mattress movers relocated 150 mattresses, sheets, and blankets.
After lunch some we got different assignments and then headed out to complete them. One group was sent to a different house to rake out all of the pine needles, leaves, and other debris from a lady's home. After completing this, the group went to a wooded area that had large broken trees and removed them to the side of the road where a wood chipper will later come and dispose of them. At that house, a few of the workers also cut down tree limbs to allow for more sunlight to shine in the yard and garden. The other group today was busy cleaning the chairs in the dining hall.
We found a little bit of free time after finishing our job assignments and before dinner. Most people used this time to make their secret friend gifts or just to relax after a long day. Then, after this little portion of free time, we ate dinner and then met as a group shortly after.
Tom, John, and Chloe performed to the song "Amish Paradise" by Weird Al Yankovich for a little bit of entertainment. After performing their song, the group got together for the light of affirmation. The light of affirmation is when one person holds a candle and each person says something good about them from the past week or even just their history knowing each other. It took us five hours and we only got through half of the people. We are going to try to get through the other half of the people tomorrow after cleaning our lodge and packing everything up.
After all had gone to bed, the annual late night raid took place. Equipped with silly string and shaving cream, Nate and Tyler brought back the old tradition.
