First Presbyterian Church of Endicott, Inc.
2004 Youth Mission Trip
April 12-16, 2004

Monday, April 12

Highlights for today:

We had an inspiring speech followed by a prayer and then embarked on an adventure of a lifetime. We finally departed at 8:47 and 13.54387 seconds AM. We made one quick bathroom stop and arrived at 11:17 and 0.004 seconds AM. There are 18 youth, 5 adults and Chloe. Ken Baratta was unable to join us due to a stomach virus.

Upon arrival we unloaded the vehicles and got our room assignments. After making ourselves at home we rearranged the main room to better fit our needs and ate our lunches (which we are grateful that our mommy's made for us). Jon Beatty would like to thank Mrs. Speice for packing ty ty an extra sandwich.

After lunch we were assigned our jobs for the afternoon. First we pushed the dock parts into the lake. Then we split up into two main groups.

One group was in charge of creating a creek for when it rains. We had to make a bed of rocks along the bottom and sides to help the water flow. We also worked on leveling out the dirt that was made from digging the ditch area. This is going to be a major project throughout the week as we continue to shape the creek.

The other group was in charge of house keeping duties. They vacuumed and cleaned out the bunk beds and rooms in the Fox Run Lodge. They also made sure there was no garbage left under the mattresses. Unfortunately we were not able to take any pictures of house keeping.

After dinner we had a slight change in plans due to the power outage. We had our night meeting, picked our special friends and then worked on a Family Tapestry for the youth house.

Today was about 50 and sunny until the end of work. Then it started to rain and we lost power for a few hours. The rain continued through out the night.

Jon's joke of the day: Of all the people I know... ... Your one of them

Scripture for today:

Matthew 20:27-28: And whosoever will be chief among you, let them be servant: even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

The youth would like to thank Mrs. Early for her help in setting up the web site.
