Today was our work day and much progress was made, here is a
brief summary of each of the projects.
Melrose Home (formally project 1) –
The roofing project turned out to be much larger than planned;
instead of a simple re-roof, about a ¼ of the roof needed
to be torn down and rebuilt. The demolition
and about ½ of
the rebuilding was completed.
The mother was taken to get her eyes evaluated and fitted for
new glasses. Some new clothes were purchased
to allow her to prepare for trying to find
a job.
Smith Home (formally project 2) –
The roof was stripped and of course significant water
damage was found. A plan was formed
to correct leaks above the dwelling and
the roof over the garage will be torn down.
Picture was lost in transmission -
hopefully we will get it tomorrow.
The Smith and Melrose projects got some unexpected help from
Virginia Tech students that are spending
spring break serving rural mission. They
will join the team again Tuesday.
Ford Home (formally project 3) –
There was good progress on re-sheathing the roof with the team
getting about a 1/3 of the roof completed.
Some of the Virginia Tech students
will join with helping the roof project
tomorrow.
The railing on the front porch made good progress on getting
the rail system installed on each side.

The team was joined this evening with 25
members associated with Westfield Methodist
Church from Massachusetts for ice cream
(yes, the team is powered with evening ice
cream). This is the same church that got the
Jenkins started with Rural Mission and
led to FPC sending teams to serve. It
was great getting to know others that are serving
down here.
