FPC Prayer
List - January 20, 2012
Finding Purpose in Christ
A little history on this prayer list:
In the fall of 2007, the
Seekers Adult Sunday School class studied
the book, "What the Spirit is Saying to the
Churches" by Henry Blackaby. There became a general
conviction among the group that they couldn't
just study this book and then go onto the
next book. Instead, they needed to become ‘doers’ and
allow it to impact and change their lives
where appropriate. Rising up from this conviction,
was the need to be praying for our church,
its leaders and an understanding amongst
ourselves, that we need to be specifically
praying for God to send forth laborers, (“Pray the Lord
of the harvest to send out laborers into
His harvest” Matthew
9:38,) whoever they may be: ourselves, someone
sitting next to us or someone entirely new
to us.
A subset of the class decided to commit to
prayer on Friday mornings at 7 am. If you
are feeling convicted to be part of a corporate
prayer time also, please
join us. Again, they meet at
7 am Friday mornings at the youth house! For those unable
to pray corporately with the group at that
time but do desire to keep the church in
prayer, the following prayer list is posted.
This list is maintained as needs from FPC
ministries are made known to the group.
For this reason I bow my knees to the Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom
the whole family in heaven and earth
is named, that He would grant you,
according to the riches of His glory,
to be strengthened with might through
His Spirit in the inner man, that
Christ may dwell in your hearts through
faith; that you, being rooted and grounded
in love, may be able to comprehend
with all the saints what is the width
and length and depth and height—
to know the love of Christ which passes
knowledge; that you may be filled with
all the fullness of God. (NKJV)

VISION
STATEMENT (What God wants to do)
We believe God wants to transform our community
through the saving love of Jesus Christ
and calls us to share that hope with the world. To be an agent
of hope, our congregation
must work together and rely on the power
of the Holy Spirit to follow Christ, whatever the cost. This
commitment, which
is grounded in a deep love of God and neighbor,
sends us out to share the Good News of Christ through our words
and our actions.
MISSION
STATEMENT (What God wants us to do)
We believe God wants us to share the life-changing
power and love of Jesus Christ in such
compelling ways that more people become fully devoted followers
of Christ.
PURPOSE STATEMENT
To reach more people and together grow in
Christ.
