Thursday,
April 23rd
Dear friends,
Good evening, Jambo.
I am here on my own tonight as the rest of the group is in Nikuru building
the church. I did speak with Liz who reported the following:
They arrived at the guest house which is retreat center for the National
Council of Churchs of Kenya. It is a nice place with good food. After lunch
they travelled to the church which is about 30 minutes from town on a hillside
over looking the Rift Valley. They had a productive afternoon. The Mabati
(sheet steel) siding is all on. Tomorrow they will paint and finish. They
had 4 o'clock tea with the women of the church and had good fellowship over
Chai tea and fresh donuts cooked on site. The dinner at the guest house was
good and they are having a meeting now.
My day was spent in the operating room taking care of the long term
effects of trauma. I helped with a total hip in a rather young person who
had broken
the hip socket some years ago. I did an ankle fusion for young man who had
a poorly treated fracture that has cause arthritis. I also removed some screws
from a 12 year old who had broken his elbow in the past. Tomorrow is supposed
to be quite light so I am going to travel with our friend Peter Kairie by
Matatu to meet the rest of the group in the afternoon and help finish up.
As always we are so appreciative of your support and prayers.

Devotion for Thursday
The Christians in Masai Land gather to worship under
a tree if they have no building. Some congregations have met this
way for many years. Today we travel to Nakuru, where we will begin
work on the church we are to complete. The congregation has been
waiting and praying for a church for years.
“So, then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work
for the good of all,
and especially for those of the family of
faith.” (Galatians 6:10)
Pray with thanksgiving that the team has the privilege of helping
to build a church for Christians who have been faithfully meeting
without a building.
Pray specifically for Jay
P. today.
