Tuesday, April 21th

We are still struggling with the internet connection but here is a message from Steve:

Yesterday we took a three-hour trip to Nyahururu and completed most of the two classrooms, which included mounting the mubati (corrugated steel) on the frame and painting the window frames. Today we put the rest of the screws in the mubati, mounted the blackboard, and cleaned the windows.

We then took side trips to the escarpment overlooking the Rift Valley and Thompson Falls (called T-Falls by the locals) and similar to T-Falls in Ithaca only bigger. We then did crafts and played with the kids and dedicated the classrooms. The "mamas" prepared four meals and two chai breaks showing tremendous hospitality. The kids were great and very friendly.

On the way back we stopped at the equator for a group picture.

Devotion for Tuesday

We will finish up the school, celebrate its dedication and return to Kikuyu for the night. This trip will call the team to “let go” of some things- the comforts of home, a predictable environment, the desire to be our own boss. Henry Davi said, “It is only by forgetting yourself that you can draw near to God.”

Ask God to show us how to forget ourselves and draw near to Him.

Pray for Pam D. specifically today.

Bonus Devotion for Tuesday
Often educated people fall into the deception of believing that because they “know” more they are wiser. You will find among the people in Kenya a simple faith. During our time in Kenya, ask yourself in what ways people of simple faith might teach those of us who have much education?

For God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness
is stronger than human strength.
” (I Corinthians 1:25)

Pray for godly wisdom as you seek to understand God’s Word and follow Christ faithfully.
